MPG™ Long Chain Alkylamine
Back to MBPDBack to Covalent Attachment

Applications:

  • Purification of nucleic acids
  • cDNA amplification
  • PCR
  • Subtractive hybridization
  • Isolation of DNA and RNA binding proteins
MPG Long Chain Alkylamine (LCA) has a 15 Å extension aliphatic arm terminating in an active primary amine. These amino groups offer greater flexibility for binding a wide variety of ligands. The long, 15 Å spacer arm present on the surface of the particle enhances reactivity by minimizing steric hindrance. The amino groups, when reacted with the appropriate bifunctional reagent, can selectively bind to antibodies, proteins and oligonucleotides having either of the following reactive groups: carboxyl, amino, or sulfhydryl groups (see diagram below). Ligand attachment is easily performed with minimal loss of biological activity. Typical amine loadings range from 75 to 125 nmole/mg MPG, allowing coupling of up to 30 µg protein per mg of MPG LCA following the suggested coupling protocol.
